Improving the health of forests, watersheds and communities along the Rio Pueblo, Rio Santa Barbara and Rio de las Trampas

The Tres Rios Watershed Coalition was formed in 2019 to address forest and watershed health in the greater Rio Embudo watershed. This basin includes the Rio Pueblo, Rio Santa Barbara and Rio de las Trampas - the “tres rios” described in the coalition’s name. The coalition’s restoration strategy (found below) is the basis for the coordination of restoration activities that provide ecological benefit and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire while maximizing the benefits to local residents. This includes increased access to fuelwood, and greater community involvement in the planning and implementation of restoration work that provides myriad benefits to the environment, to residents and to the agencies that manage these lands.
